Problem with building local network with ADSL

Hiya all,

Several questions:

1) What are you using to connect to the DSL e.g. DSL modem, modem/router etc.? 
Model number as well please so I can get a grip on what's going on.

2) Have you installed a firewall on the Ubuntu box. If yes, what is it; 
Shorewall, guarddog etc.

3) Can your Ubuntu box get online?

Answer these and I can sort it out for you. Also, can you give me your ISP 
name so I can get their DNS server details.
