I don't know the answer to these questions (my guess would be no, but
who really knows?); however, here is one solution: Download and
install the updates on one computer, and then make your own CD
"repository" for these new updates.

Granted, this is a hackish solution, but it might save you some time
(depending on the total size of updates that need to be fetched and
your network connections).

I'm with you, though -- hopefully the official ISOs will be updated so
that one need not download huge amounts of upgrades immediately after
a fresh install.
