the only other thing i can think of is that grub has been installed
to read from another location (ie. on another partition, always have
this problem on a dual boot setup). to ensure its reading off
the one u want do;
sudo grub-install /dev/hda
assuming the drive your bios is set to boot off is hda. if this doesn't
do it im afraid that i cant help sorry.
