server woes

All-

So, I just started a fresh install on one of my old debian
boxes. The install went fine, except that the network
card wasn't auto-detected.

After the base install was finished, I logged in and
tried to do a 'sudo lspci', but I got nothing. I have
verified that the pci module is loaded, but still,
I get nothing from lspci.

I'm not sure how to procede. The box had been running
debian, so I know that the hardware should be working.

Anybody have any advice on how to procede?
