Grub Loader 18 error again

Well, it has happened again ... decided to upgrade to Dapper with a 
clean install ...

Running an external SCSI drive and when I let the installer handle 
partitioning, I get a Grub Loader 18 error ...  again

Last time someone suggested setting up a /boot partition of 100 MB, 
but I cannot see what combo of manoeuvres I go thru to do that ...

If anyone would be kind enought o send me the step-by -step, even 
off-list, I'd appreciate it ...

You'd think it would be automagic ....
