I have no experience with your hardware, so I can't be of much help to 
you about that.

Your original post said there is an option that does boot correctly. 
Perhaps post menu.lst here

That's correct. There should be a *stage1_5 corresponding to the file 
system on the partition that contains the kernel image - probably but 
not necessarily e2fs_stage1_5
