How to open a port?

I've just tried it by telnetting to the port before and after disabling
the GUi setting:

telnet <outside ip of the machine> 6000

As expected, in one case i couldn't connect, in the other i could.
Cosistent with the fact that this always worked for me.

Can you telnet there?
