Hi,
I had very similar problems with Dapper. I did a clean install. But the
cf card-reader plus the built-in wireless card did not work. They both
worked under breezy.

I discovered that a few 'unimportant' packages did not get installed.
They were one or more of the followings:
pcmcia-cs, pcmciautils, linux-wlan-ng, linux-wlan-ng-firmware,
libdiscover1, libdiscover1-pic, linux-restricted-modules

(I don't remember exactly which packages were not installed, but it was
more than one from the above list.)

After installing the missing packages, everything started to work
again, plus my built-in SD-card reader, which *never* worked under any
linux distro, started to work too!

Nice job, Dapper! (sort of... :)

Hope it helps...
