Getting started with Plone

Hoi there

Well I don't really have much experience with plone on Ubuntu (I
installed it on Debian several times though), but I feel I have to ask
you why you intend to use plone for? Because if your goal is to learn
how to easily set up website, I suggest you use somthing else...
Plone is really good for custom intranet sites (content-management
applications), but too tendious to customize if you're looking for a
simple website solution.

If you're looking for a groupware application: 'egroupware'
(http://www.egroupware.org/) is pretty powerful.
If you're looking for something more appropriate for general website
production, use the famous LAMP environnement instead (Linux Apache
mySQL Php/Python)
If you're looking for "real programming" (as opposed to web
programming), try Python, Ruby, or C++ instead.

I highly suggest that you learn Python, as it's easy but powerful.
You might want to play around with it for a while, and then give Ruby a
try?

Hope I helped, at all :)
