pcmcia not working after installing xubuntu

Hi,

I've just installed xubuntu 6.06 on an IBM thinkpad 600X, I had
working WiFi during the installation when booted from the LiveCD, but
booting from the harddrive I'm not seeing the pcmcia orinoco network
card at all and if I eject it and plug it in again I get the
following:

pccard: card ejected from slot 1
pccard: PCMCIA card inserted into slot 1
cs: unable to map card memory!
cs: unable to map card memory!

So, anyone know what the differences between the LiveCD and the
Install for xubuntu are?
