Hi All
I have a tray loading G3 iMac I'm trying to install dapper on.
It was running a server install of breezy.

First I tried to do a clean install from the alternate cd.
Regardless of the option I choose at the boot prompt I end up at an
open firmware prompt.

Thinking it was an issue with the cd, I edited my sources.list
to say dapper rather than breezy and did an
apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade It seemed to complete ok,
but when I did a reboot I ended up at that open firmware prompt again.

If I choose the old kernel option at the boot prompt it boots
fine - so right now it's running Dapper with a 2.6.12-10 kernel :-/

I have three questions:
1 - Any suggestions on how I can get this Mac to boot on the
current kernel?
2 - I think I should file a bug somewhere since the install cd
doesn't work - where do I go?
3 - What's the proper way to compile my own kernel on this machine?
I'd like to try to get an 80x25 console screen and I'm pretty sure
it's a compile time option.

Comments appreciated,
Brian McKee
