how to debug broken hibernate?

When it does this on my machine, it's usually after there is a kernel
update, which overwrite GRUB's menu.lst and removes the
"resume=/dev/foo" parameter that you have to add by hand to tell the
kernel where is the swap partition where the session data has been
stored when you hibernated.
