Also, you may have an irq or other ressource conflict because linux is not a
pnp  OS.  If you can dissable pnp in the BIOS, that may help.  I had one box
that allowed you to allocate specific IRQs to the ISA bus, and that was
needed to get an ISA ethernet card to work.
