AFAIK ubuntu-standard will allways be removed when deinstalling nano.

But you can do:
sudo update-alternatives --config editor

Personally i prefer vim also but nano is a much better default for
beginners. And when i started i used nano myself a lot.
But nowadays after learning the very basics of vim it´s just cool. ;)
