Try GKrellm, it works also in KDE.  All functions you mentioned, plus many 
other (temperatures, disk usage etc.), plus lot's of additional plugins 
available including Moon phases :)  Very compact, but takes some place on 
desktop. Has many different "skins" to choose from.
