Best system monitor?

What system monitors does everyone here use for their linux box?  Is there a
nice one built in where I can get the essentials (CPU usage, memory usage,
swap usage, networks, etc)?

I tried to download torsmo (the first hit on the google.com/linux search)
and it wouldn't work: it had both a Makefile.in and a Makefile.am... this
seems standard but following the instructions (./configure, make, then run
it) don't seem to work... how do you deal with this type of setup?
