Live CD/DVD Doesn't Work?!?!

Let me see if I have this straight.
So you get the basic bootup graphics and so on, yes? But when it tries
to boot into the desktop, it fails?
& the text-based CD works but when /it/ tries to boot to the desktop,
it fails, too?
& you have 2 graphics cards?
I don't think SLI works under Linux.
Have you tried removing 1 card? Or failing that simply attaching the
screen to the other card, in case X.11 is initialising the wrong one?
