Firestarter and mdns-scan

I'm having some issues trying to get Firestarter to play nice with other
machines on this network.

After some googling, I was able to get other machines to see this one while
using samba. I'm not having any luck with mdns-scan, though.

When firestarter is running, I cannot run mdns-scan from this computer. I
get "sendmsg() failed: Operation not permitted". If I shut off Firestarter,
the operation runs normally.

With Firestarter running on this computer, other computers on the network
cannot see this one when running mdns-scan from the other computer. This in
spite of settings that should allow those computers to connect to this one
without interference.

I'm running a wireless network, and the wireless card is identified as ra0, if
that makes a difference.
