Hi, your message is a little unclear, so pardon me for starting from
the basics.

Ubuntu is an *operating system.* It's a replacement (or to run along
side) Windows XP. It isn't something you can open in Windows. What you
need to do is to "burn" the contents of the file you downloaded unto a
CD, and then restart your computer. If your PC is of a fairly recent
vintage, it will try to boot from the CD (instead of your hard drive).
You can then play around with Ubuntu -- try out applications, etc. --
without harming or changing your Windows XP in any way.
