Installing rpm package in Ubuntu 6.06

what you need is alien.

sudo apt-get install alien

then

sudo alien whatever.rpm

this "should" convert the rpm package to a deb package, dependencies and
all. now, hits doesn't always work perfect, but, its a big step in teh
right direction for you.
