dapper on a slow pc

this is what i did on a P2 laptop with only 64MB ram:
1.downlaod the alternate CD and burn it
http://ubuntu.cs.utah.edu/releases/6.06/ubuntu-6.06-alternate-i386.iso
2.boot from the the CD and do the "text mode install" (the first
install option when u c the start up menu), make sure the system can
detect and config your network card
3. setup the root password by using:
sudo passwd root
4. make sure u have a internet connection, then do:
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
or
sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop
or
sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
or
sudo apt-get install flwm
those command installs a GUI desktop, but for the low performance
computers, i would recommoned xubuntu or flwm, they are light
enjoy
