Syncing a Palm TX with Ubuntu Dapper LTS

Ubuntu Users,

I have installed gnome-pilot, edited /etc/udev/rules.d/10-udev.rules,
and basically followed every instruction I could find on the net.

When I plug my Palm Pilot into the USB port, /dev/ttyUSB0 and
/dev/ttyUSB1 are created, and a symlink called "pilot" is created that
links to ttyUSB1:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7 2006-07-22 23:32 pilot -> ttyUSB1
crwxrwxrwx 1 root dialout 188, 0 2006-07-22 23:32 ttyUSB0
crwxrwxrwx 1 root dialout 188, 1 2006-07-22 23:32 ttyUSB1

However, I can not get any kind of response from gome-pilot, j-pilot, or
pilot-xfer. I have attempted pressing the hotsync button before and
after doing any action with any of those applications.

What might I be missing?
