Llike any other URL

<PROTOL://user:password@host/optionallocation/ressource#insideressourceref?cgiparameter=value&cgiparameter=value>

For IRC what you need is :

PROTOCOL = IRC
Host = irc server FQDN host name
Ressource = channelname

You can add user and password if you need to authenticate your nickname
to your server :
user = registered nickname
password = registered nickname passowrd

To access channel ubuntu on irc.freenode.net you need to register a
nickname first so :

<irc://nickname:password@irc.freenode.net/ubuntu>
