It isn't compulsory you know :)
For example:

So - do you have potential "local attackers" ? If not, I guess you don't
need the new kernel. If you do, then you can install it and be able to
sleep at night... or at least have a better chance of avoiding insomnia ;-)
The wizards haven't yet worked out how to update the kernel in a system
while an existing kernel is running ( joking).
