Ubuntu i386 completely installed on my P3 but don't know username so cannot login ? HELP !

The OP mentioned that they did already try and reinstall, which made
me think perhaps `root.' I've never installed the server version, if
it isn't already apparently, but isn't that the only Ubuntu version
that *does* have a root account at installation?
