This would be much appreciated. I humbly propose that Ubuntu team should
find out two things:

1) what percentage of their current users have only dial-up Internet
connection.

2) how many new users would Ubuntu gain if it become practical to install
and maintain the system in locales where broadband is prohibitively
expensive for "ordinary folks".

If these numbers are what I believe they are, Ubuntu team might be inclined
to revise  this "let them eat cakes" attitude - i.e., that every user must
have broadband - if for no other good reason, than just to install and
maintain Ubuntu.
