You can do
cat /proc/cpuinfo
E.g., my current machine has the info below.
You need to be a little careful with /proc/cpuinfo, because
it reports 2N processors if you're running N processors with
hyperthreading. I'm sure there are other caveats as well,
but cpuinfo is a good tool to use.
