Installing a new kernel

I'd like to install a new kernel with the instructions from here:
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=85917

However, I don't know which processor this machine has! I assume its
an AMD because that's what's printed on the fan. But I'd like a
sure-fire method of knowing exactly which kernel I need. How would one
go about determining that?
