As I see it the question isn't wether unfree software should be included
by default or not (I don't think it should but thats not what the blog
was about). The question is wether unfree software is included in
linux-image (and therefore the 'free' main repository).

And what it boils down to is wether you should count firmware as
something that should be free or not (the Ubuntu-devs think it should
be counted as data and it's fine if it isn't free).

If it isn't a necessary part I think it should be in the restricted
repository. But if that is hard to accomplish (I'm no expert on these
things) it might have to be in the linux-image package.
