Hello,
This will be my last post, about this subject. Just to say that unspite
I'm not a developper, I took the information from people who know very
well what they are talking about, and to say that really, an ipw
firmware will not miss me... and that the free driver inclueded is ok,
but... the rest I sayd before.
I don't know Xandros, and I don't know all the distributions. I use
currently Ubuntu, Xubuntu, I have used others a pair of years ago,
Mandrake, Debian, and mostly Archlinux since a few weeks.
See ?
pacman -S ipw2200-fw will install the firmware. The driver (free) is
allready in the kernel.

Post number 2:
"Petite précision le driver ipw2200 est déjà dans le kernel, c'est le
firmware qu'il faut installer en faisant pacman -S ipw2200-fw mais je
pense que c'est ce que tu as fais.")
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wireless_Setup :
"ipw2100 and ipw2200
To install the correct firmware with pacman do a:
pacman -Sy ipw2100-fw
For the ipw2200 chipset you should use:
pacman -Sy ipw2200-fw"
Richard T Richter, if you think this subject fits sounder better,
please take it there, I don't own it.
Now I'm going to quit the list for a while again, as I just wanted to
point out the importance of the subject. Having been here for a long
time, I thought that the people deserve to get this information.
Now, the people who read it are still free... to do what they wish out
of it.
Best greetings to all, Joyce Markoll.
