Hello Oli,
It seems to rely on GPL, because of the frequent words 'Gnu/Linux' on
the Ubuntu website pages. It's true that it is also told about the
diverses licenses, but fundamentally, the default kernel should be free
from non free programs, whatever they are.

100% gpl'ed ubuntu derivative." is not an argument.
Either Ubuntu is free, so it is really made 100% with free componants,
that I can modify as sayd here :

or It invents and publish a new license, or it removes the ipw and
other non free firmwares from where it should never have been
inclueded.
Actually, Ubuntu pretends to be what it isn't.
