When is a new kernel released?

I have one of the newer iPod video (60GB) units and I had a similar
problem (running the same kernel). I couldn't get anything to recognize
my iPod (rhythmbox, banshee, etc). Finally, I installed the new Amarok
(1.4.1) and it worked like a charm.
