Help with installing Dapper on Duron

I have a computer with AMD Duron 1200 processor, 128 mbRAM, 40gb hard disk, built-in audio/video/LAN.  I'm running Ubuntu 5.10 on them and I would like to upgrade it to 6.06 - will it run?

I tried doing online upgrade and it hanged then I tried doing a fresh install using an empty hard drive, the installation hangs. I borrowed memory from another computer to make it 256mb, same thing.  I never had problems installing 5.10.  Is it possible that my machine is not compatible with 6.06?

Any advise is welcome.
