Because 6.06 LTS (Dapper) has this suffix: LTS = Long Time Support. The
idea is that Warty, Hoary, Breezy and Dapper where a succession on a
path to a polished version of what we had. People who mainly want
stability and "just works" can now use 6.06 LTS over the next 3
(desktop) or 5 (server) years.

Edgy starts a new cycle which will likely lead to a new LTS after a few
releases. It's better explained in the edgy announcement
