Complex hard drive partitioning

What on Earth do you need 4GB of swap for? If you need that much swap
space you should buy more ram. My linux runs extremely easily with 512mb
RAM and 400mb swap. Also your boot partition is huge, wouldn't about
100mb be more than enough?

Reducing the size of these two partitions should yield you enough space
for an ubuntu install (I find 6GB is ample for a standard install + a
few extra apps). Are you sure you can't salvage any space from the
gentoo partition? I have a hunch you must have about 10gb free on that??
