I had a similar problem with my HP 1210 PSC printer. After changing
cartridges, the darn thing only printed in a nasty yellow. This was
solely under windows, and had nothing to do with the print cartridges.
Talking to an HP engineer, he said it was the fault of my older
cartridges (HP 56 & 57).

Looking at some online forums, I found that a number of people had
experienced this problem. Apparently, there is a problem with the
cartridges and they just do this. Soaking them for a brief time in
very hot water and swabbing the contacts on the printer was the
solution I used to make this work again. I do not have the link
handy.

A weird problem, for sure.
