Why is OpenOffice slow?

maybe prelinking the binaries would speed it up,
It shortened OO load from 17 seconds to 12seconds on a AMD 2800Sempron, 756Mb.
apt-get install prelink (or synaptic)
then edit /etc/defaults/prelink to have
PRELINKING=yes
run:
sudo /etc/cron.daily/prelink
warning: it will take a while on the first pass, depending on processor speed and how much is installed.
It ran all night and finished by morning.
