can't warm reboot

Hello,
  I installed Breezy on a Compaq Pasario SR1603WM desktop. Installed
easily and with a little configuration, it does everything I need it to.
The problem I have though is that a warm reboot (reboot the computer
from Log out menu) fails. Shutting the computer down does that. The warm
boot looks like it is going to happen, but the system locks up and the
video is shut down (monitor goes into power saving) ... Any suggestions?
