Thanks for the response. I have edited as sudo. still I am unable to
get photo in kdm login screen. I have put photo in
/usr/share/apps/kdm/pics/users/.
I get msg in syslog
kdm_greet[7671]: Can't open default user face
lvgandhi at lvgdell600m:~$ ls -l /usr/share/apps/kdm/pics/users/lvgandhi.png
-rw-r--r--  1 root root 9954 2006-01-28 19:46
/usr/share/apps/kdm/pics/users/lvgandhi.png
i am at loss to understand why it couldnot be opened?
