As for emacs.... we won't go there. Enough Holy Wars have been happening
around here already ;-)

(of course you are right that there's a lot of BSD stuff that is common to
Linux and OS-X - I just thought we were missing the obligatory GNU
references that *have* to surface in every flamewar of this kind!)
