Which is better? OSX or Ubuntu?

Ubuntu 5.10 "Breezy Badger" boots rather fast (faster than I expected) but
it is after boot that it gets slower than hell. Can't run DVD Movies at all,
and it takes for freaking ever for a sizeable program (Like OOo.org2 Writer)
to open.

On that little RAM it would seem to be sensible to run xubuntu, that's
what it was designed for after all.
