thats curious, so even on my Powerbook Wallstreet with 300MHz and 256MB
Ram OSX runs quite pleasant. So what I know its more a thing of RAM

That's true, but if you use for instance firefox and it comes to swap
activaty it slows down the whole system a lot.
Ahhh and the thing about Gnome is that normally the CPU gets used a lot,
so thats what I see in my Panel Applet. The CPU is the most worrying
thing in my Pismo, ...

And for OS9 this OS uses to crash since I know it and thats for several
years now. Even fresh installs from original CD'S use to crash after
some time of usage. I never experienced it to be different. And I used
OS9 on different kind of Maschines from Powerbook Wallstreet up to
Pismo, G3 Powermacs, G4 Powermacs,...
The first maschine I used it on was a Blue&White Mac, which is know to
be troublesome, but also often blessed maschines often crashed using OS9
