Have a 'sort of' same problem, here is the brief story:
I installed kubuntu on the new Laptop for my mother (Thinkpad a30).
Used my local network for that (fli4l router as gateway 192.168.1.1)
after all online updates and installes I was setting up the kpp via
modem for my mother (to use at here home).
Haveing a lot of pain with that I finally mange that (user must be
member of groups uucp and dip). For this I had to disable the gateway
192.168.1.1, which I did over the GIU system settings networkin in
administrater mode.
But for backups and system maintenance I want to have this working back
in my local network and now the pain starts again. Any time I set up a
default gateway (again with system settings/networking), it's just been
ignored by the system.
neither /etc/init.d/networking restart nor booting helped.
So far I wasn't able to set up a default gateway again.
Is there any chance to get this working with command line??
Thanks
