The Sun JRE 1.5 is certainly covered by a different licence to the GPL
applications, but several distros allow you to download it directly
(after usually accepting the terms of a licence). Microsoft's core
fonts (in the msttcorefonts package) are in the breezy repository and
the licence terms are that you should have first purchased the
Microsoft EULA to use them. So the lack of the JRE is the repositories
is not related per se to a licensing restriction.

Several TrueType fonts other than those in msttcorefonts are open source
and directly equivalent to them, so there IS an alternative.
Unfortunately, several GPL'd applications use the JRE directly and
expect it to be installed. Frostwire and XNap are but two, but the
same is true of JAP (the Java Anonymising Proxy). So I don't
understand why the JRE is not in the repositories, even marked up as
non-free and the user is required to restrictive licensing terms.

Incidentally, I couldn't connect to the wiki page you gave. Do you know
if it is still active?
