For some reason or the other, the link you provided is not working.
Also, do you have any Plug n Play device which has the probability of not
getting detected by Linux?
Check it out...that may be causing the problem.

Also, I don't remember, but this problem has been discussed before.
It was totally random then, and the only solution is to disable Hotplug.
(which has its own disadvantages. )
