Problems installing 5.10 with GeForce 6800

Have you tried getting to terminal using the recovery mode option in the
grub menu at all?  That should drop you into a root prompt.

>From there you might be able to look at your Xorg.0.log to see if there
are any relevant error messages.  You might even be able to reconfigure
xorg.conf to work with the standard vesa drivers while you troubleshoot
the nvidia problem.
