Not that this will be much help to you, but I am using an Asus A8N 
SLI-Premium board with 4GB RAM, a Geforce 6600GT,and a AMDx2 64 +4400 
CPU and am using onboard LAN, SATA and IDE, but not RAID, and have no 
problems at all.

Has it always done this? Perhaps it was just a dodgy/corrputed install.  
Have you tried a complete reinstallation?
