Hello list,
I've been having problems getting IrDA to work with my mobile phone. I've
googled around, and noticed that many others have the same problem;
eventhough Windows detects and tells that the device is a SMC IrCC model,
for which the smsc-ircc2 module should be the correct one, trying to load it
fails:
jaska at jjod600n:~$ sudo modprobe smsc-ircc2
FATAL: Error inserting smsc_ircc2
(/lib/modules/2.6.12-10-686/kernel/drivers/net/irda/smsc-ircc2.ko): No such
device
This is what I'm using:
jaska at jjod600n:~$ dog /etc/lsb-release
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=5.10
DISTRIB_CODENAME=breezy
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu (The Breezy Badger Release)"
...on a Dell Latitude D600 laptop.
I've been able to get irdaping work, here's some of that output:
jaska at jjod600n:~$ sudo irdaping 0x02ee1d97
IrDA ping (0x02ee1d97 on irda0): 32 bytes
32 bytes from 0x02ee1d97: irda_seq=7 time=104.01 ms.
32 bytes from 0x02ee1d97: irda_seq=25 time=106.00 ms.
32 bytes from 0x02ee1d97: irda_seq=43 time=103.08 ms.
Also, this is what discovery has to say:
jaska at jjod600n:~$ cat /proc/net/irda/discovery
IrLMP: Discovery log:
nickname: SIEMENS CFX65, hint: 0x8024, saddr: 0x17f3b8f8, daddr: 0x02ee1d97
But that's about it, gnome-phone-manager cannot connect, apparently due to
failure loading the aforementioned module. Haven't tried any other high
level tools, but advice is greatly appreciated on what to try next.
Thanks in advance!
