It would appear that on Fri Dec 30 2005, Joyce Markoll did say:
> If you don't have Lilo now, you can't play, sorry :))
> I have questions about how to deal with the /etc/lilo.conf file ;)
> And how to handle multiboot with it.

Well Joyce, I'm by no means an "expert"... But I have (and still do)
played with multi-boot with both lilo & grub for a while now.
But anything I may assert as true would be based on simple empirical
testing on my system rather than true understanding and as such may well
be dependent on something specific to my box...

But for what it's worth:

While I use grub in my mbr, I also use lilo -b /dev/fd0 to put a backup
boot system on floppy. Especially just before I do any editing of my
grub.conf file....

I started with lilo. And with much trial and error I learned that some
linux's (such as mandrake) shipped with a version of lilo that supported
a text based menu boot selection screen, and some (such as redhat) did NOT!

So since my current multi boot configuration includes Mandrake 9.1,
Fedora Core 1, Fedora core 2, And Kubuntu 5.10 my "lilo" boot options
are done from the mdk9.1

Thus my lilo.conf uses lines like:

install=menu
menu-scheme=wb:bw:wb:bw

Which may or may not be compatible with the lilo that you might be
using...

My mbr is currently using a grub boot with a boot partition
which I keep any automatic updates from messing with by NOT including in
any of my distro's fstab files... (yeah I'm a little paranoid about what
fedora's yum or ubuntu's apt-get might change there...) And when
appropriate I copy and usually rename any appropriate vmlinuz and initrd
files to both it and the mandrake /boot dir so that I can use them when
I update the grub.conf (menu.lst) and/or lilo.conf files.

For at least the next 30 days, you can check out copies of my grub.conf
and lilo.conf files at:

https://home.comcast.net/~jtwdyp/grub.conf
&
https://home.comcast.net/~jtwdyp/lilo.conf

Both of these work on my multi-boot boot PC. And while they are probably
less than perfect. You can perhaps get a clue or two from them...
