Shared Windows/Linux Drive Problems

Thanx Leo,

i've been searching on this problem also.

My problem is a bit more tricky: I'd like to mount my vfat (shared with
xp) as /home

With various possibilities

fstab for example:

/dev/hda7 /home vfat uid=1000,gid=1000,umask=002,dmask=002,owner 0
0

or

/dev/hda7 /data vfat
uid=1000,gid=vfataccess,dmask=0002,fmask=0113,user  0    0

(as you told, i inserted uid=1000 to have the user as the owner of the
filesystem)

i manage to mount it and to have read/write access. Furthermore the
owner can be defined as well as de group.

Anyway i get errors like "$home/.dmrc has wrong permissions. should
have 644 permissions and owner should be user"

and "set mode 0700 for .ICE-authority fails"

and various others.

How would you adress this?

I'd be grateful for any help...

cheers, philipp
